What is organic gardening?

When many people hear the words “organic gardening,” they either think it is a hippie notion, or that it is just a fad that will soon go out of style. What many don’t realize that while organic gardening is becoming popular now is that it has been around since ancient times. Organic gardening was the only option. It wasn’t until the mid-nineteenth century that synthetic fertilizers were even developed. Increasingly, farming and gardening have become more chemically-based, which is more harmful to the environment and even to people. Some studies have linked pesticide-ridden produce to the increased number of people diagnosed with ADD.

Growing tomato plants

Whether or not you are a fan of tomatoes, tomato planting is a very exciting and beneficial part for your vegetables garden. When you see tomatoes in the supermarket, you usually see tomatoes that are really hard and lack flavor and nutrition. This is because they are shipped out before they are ripe. Square Foot Gardening – Update on Using Coffee Grounds as Compost or for Dry Looking Plants

About 2 days after adding coffee grounds from Starbucks into my garden I have started to see some great results. Some of the plants are starting to shoot up in growth, some of the plants are starting to turn green again. Not all are doing so, but I am very happy with the results so far. I picked some of the snow peas, replanted in spots that only had weeds, and am excited to see what will happen in the next week or two.

Square Foot Gardening – Peas, Lettuce, and Wheat Grass Update

Here is another video update on my square foot garden. I had QUITE a few weeds in my garden which you can tell form my other videos and other posts. We pulled out all the weeds, added some coffee grounds, as well as some support for the snow peas.

We are going to add more seeds to the sections that did not grow, and make sure to stay on top of the weeds so that the plants can grow much bigger.

Coffee Grounds for your garden

Someone told me to use coffee grounds for my square foot garden. It is supposed to be really good to help your plants grow quickly, especially if some are dying and are dried up. I called up Starbucks and asked them if I could have some coffee grounds, and I got a huge trash bag full for free. I think most Starbucks will offer this for free, just make sure to call them first. I will also let everyone know how this helps my garden.
